What is FMCSA Supervisor Training?

The purpose of the training is to enable supervisors to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing described in §382.307. It must include at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on controlled substances use (120 minutes in total).”

 

 HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THIS TRAINING?

Criteria 1. If you work in the transportation industry (trucking, school bus, tour bus, transportation of hazardous materials, etc.) then you are covered under the DOT 49 CFR Part 382 and 49 CFR Part 40 regulations.

DO I NEED TO REPEAT THIS TRAINING?

No. With a caveat. If you do not have record on file that proves you completed your FMCSA Supervisor Training then you should complete a new training course and keep record. DOT regulations state your training record should be kept on file indefinitely.
